Workshops
I have over ten years' experience of devising and leading workshops in which I build confidence and writing skills through exercises, improvisations and performance techniques.
I have worked with people at many different stages and aptitudes, in schools, community centres, writers' groups, festivals etc, and organisations such as Women's Aid, the Women's Library (Glasgow) and ConFab.
I have a lot of experience in mounting platforms and creating development opportunities customised to the needs and aspirations of individuals and groups. I particularly enjoy engaging young people with performance poetry.
Specialism in Environment and Biodiversity
Pursuing themes connected to biodiversity and the environment, my Environmental and Biodiversity Workshops encourage fresh ways of looking at the landscape, strengthening links and deepening a sense of shared place.

Some Recent Projects
Evolving Words, Darwin 200 (The Wellcome Trust)
A group of young people (aged 18–25) challenged in their literacy skills and confidence wrote a collaborative poem reflecting Darwin's links to Cramond Beach on the coast near their home area. This project involved me liaising with and sourcing inspirational material from the National Library of Scotland.
The six sessions helped participants access their creative self and resulted in a video of the poem in performance and a live presentation at the Wellcome Trust in London.
Schools Biodiversity (Aberdeen City Council & Scottish Natural Heritage)
S3 biology class at Oldmachar Academy. Using biodiversity and biological processes as our themes, we created six interlinked poems, which the pupils presented at a Scottish Natural Heritage Conference. I led two writing workshops at the conference itself.

'The pupils thoroughly enjoyed their involvement in the slam and were naturally thrilled to have won. The best bit for me though is that the pupils are now doing a creative writing unit and really putting 100% into it. Thank you for highlighting further that English is fun!'
