mother earth
needs her trees
from seed to branch
from branch to leaf
their roots grow deep
beneath our feet
homes for worms
and little bugs
that live and feed
beneath the earth
as creatures nest
and rest above
shaded under
leafy bark and bough
nature's guardians of
little things
some have flowers
some have pine
evergreen
in winter time
nuts for squirrels
and fruits for birds
while insects lunch
munch and dine
on branch and leaf
mother earth
needs her trees |
|
some grow tall
and some grow small
help create
the air we breathe
stop erosion of the soil
from hot baked sun
and driving rains
each a whole
eco-system
from paw-paw trees
to oak and birch
all different kinds
around the world
and Did you know?
The Law of Gravity
was conceived
beneath an apple tree
some make maple
and some make
roofs and walls
Ancient Redwoods
walked with dinosaurs
from seed to branch
from branch to leaf
mother earth needs her trees
and so do we… |
